Para retirar o réptil do rio, a pedido dos pescadores que diziam estar assustados com o animal, foi necessária uma retroescavadeira. O jacaré passou dois dias amarrado e sem alimentação .Após ficar dois dias amarrado, jacaré de 400 quilos é levado para cativeiro

VADODARA: Spotting crocodiles in Vishwamitri is not out of place, but this one has generated quite an interest among those following them closely. The nearly 14 feet long reptile is probably the largest one that has been recorded inhabiting the river presently.
The marsh crocodile or mugger is known to thrive in Vishwamitri. A census of the reptile in the river in 2010 had counted 205 crocodiles in it. The population includes a healthy number of adult crocodiles that are over 10 feet long.
Vishal Thakur from Canine Group Association who photographed the crocodile from a close distance said that it was for the first time that such a large crocodile was spotted in the river. "The 14 feet long crocodile was captured at Kodarvaya village pond near the city. But we had never come across such a huge one in the city," he said.
While the activists are not disclosing the site where the crocodile was spotted, they said that it resides in the river and was spotted while basking in the sun last week. "We do not want the animal to be disturbed," Thakur said.
Thakur pointed out that it was evident that a part of the tail of the mugger was missing. "Nearly a foot of the tail is not there or else the reptile could have been longer," he said. Thakur and his group are hopeful that there might be a couple of more such crocodiles in the river. "We are studying the reptile regularly and are hopeful that we will spot large ones," Thakur said.
